I had a fairly busy day today which cumulated a short while ago in the test centre with a pupil who was obviously there to do her test. Two hours previous to me picking her up for a pre-test drive I got a manic text message saying
'F**k! I'm trying so hard not to freak out but I'm so scared, I'm going through these show me/tell me questions and I'm so not getting them! Crap!'
Ohhhhh yeah! That was a classic case of blind panic! So the lesson went okay, she was nervous and jittery but I showed her how to use her breathing to control her heart rate and hence calm herself down. We had three driving examiners on today one of them being Alison the other two were men so I was kinda glad when my pupil was called by her. I nipped up to retrieve the log book of my car and gave my pupil a little rub on the arm and told her to keep calm at which point she turned round and gave me a big hug. I took my log book and then Alison put her arms out and said, 'So can I have a hug too?' Meh, I shrugged my shoulders and said, 'Sure why not!' So hugs all round and the other driving instructors were killing themselves laughing. My pupil and Alison were on their way out the door when the other examiner a guy called Jon put his arms out and signalled to one of the other instructors that he too needed a hug. So being a game guy up he jumps and away he goes to hug Jon. What a surreal moment that all was! Probably the funniest thing that has ever happened to me at the test center, oh no wait that was getting a pass! (just kidding)
So had to gather up a few bits and pieces for an auction at camera club tonight, makes money for club funds plus you make a few pounds as well.
Freezing cold today! Brrr!
