No telly but is the internet taking over our lives?

Ok so no telly to watch the news on and the first thing I reach for in the morning (apart from a coffee) is my laptop to trawl the news websites and see what has been going on in the world while I slept. While online I check my inbox, my MSN and also might have a quick shufty into Runescape to see what I can bash or cash in on. All this from the comfort of my bed making getting ready for work seem like such a chore!

L logged into MSN while she was in Uni and made some smart ass comment about me being a lady of leisure and guessed that I was playing RS while lazing in bed. Made me kinda think is that what my kids will remember me for in years to come? Some internet junkie? Mind you when I am looking for them they are usually stuck at a computer, yacking on an IM with someone or surfing. Is this just how life is now or have I set this example for my kids?

Some days when I log on and realise I have local access only and my internet is down I huff and puff about switching the router off an on again, hooking my laptop up to the cable to see if that helps to kick it in. It isn't a feeling of panic I feel but instead just a feeling of downright frustration that when I want it it isn't there! I guess just like the telly if I didn't have it I could live quite happily without it but when it becomes a big part of your life, for communication purposes, for work purposes etc then you don't half miss it.

Does it rule me?
