Monday rain.

Does it just seem worse than normal rain? I don't usually mind Mondays but today was just yuk. :(

I took my Dad down to have a check with his GP earlier and sitting out side reminded me of how my Dad used to sit out there and wait while Mum and I were in the then Stewarts Supermarket doing our weekly shop. The door of the shop was the very door that at the tender age of 3 I caught my fingers in. I do actually remember it and have quite vivid memories of looking at my three flat looking red fingers and screaming at the top of my voice! That little strip has all changed now, a modern fronted doctors surgery now sits where once my brother and I used to love to find rolls of unprinted price labels, put them in our pockets and then spend the rest of the day sticking them on each others back and hair and even on the spokes of our bikes. On the days when Dad couldn't wait outside we would pay for our groceries, box them up and leave them sitting at the window and Dad would drive down later that evening to pick them up. Once I scared the life out of him by hiding in the boot of our red Simca car, a funny little hatch back with removable shelf. He came back with the box, popped the boot and out I jumped, how the weeks shopping didn't end up on the pavement I will never know. I loved that little car with its funky leopard print seat covers, it just seemed so modern at the time.

Mum and Dad appeared out of the door of the surgery and Mum took a dash to the car to get out of the rain, ever the joker Dad stands with his mobile up to his ear mouthing 'taxi taxi taxi' :). He said you go into that doctor feeling like you are going to die and come out feeling like you could play for Linfield and he does nothing only talk to you! The sign of a good doctor or the making of a good sales man?

Going out tonight to the opera! Ohhh my doesn't that sound posh! Carmen :)
